Lion’s Mane

Lion’s mane, also known as yamabushitake, is an edible mushroom that’s been used for centuries due to its roles in cognitive enhancement and immunomodulation. Two of its active ingredients include beta-glucans and antioxidants. Beta-glucans are a class of neuroprotective compounds that clinicians believe are able to prevent cognitive decline and antioxidants suppress anti-inflammatory factors and reduce free radical damage.

Lion’s mane has traditionally been used in tea form but is now widely available in capsules, powders, tinctures, and even as part of mushroom coffee blends. You can read our reviews of the best brands of lion’s mane below.
