In a perfect world, you’d get all the nutrients you need from a healthy, balanced diet. But in real life, your diet might not always meet your body’s nutritional needs. That’s one reason why people turn to supplements to help fill in the gaps where their diet might fall short. But for some, pills can be unappealing. The aftertaste can be gross, and big pills can be (literally) hard to swallow.
An alternative that’s becoming more and more popular are gummies. A tasty, easy to chew and swallow sweet treat can make supplementing your health easy and fun. A few popular gummy supplement alternatives include omega-3 and fish oil. In traditional pill form, both are notorious for having an unappealing aftertaste.
What are the benefits of taking omega-3 and fish oil supplements?
So, why are these two supplements so popular—and what should you look for when shopping for them? First, it’s important to note that fish oils contain omega-3s, but not all omega-3s found in supplements are derived from fish oil. This distinction is important, and can also make shopping for these types of supplements tricky.
Omega-3 and fish oil benefits
Omega-3 is a fatty acid that’s known to have a wide range of health benefits, specifically for your brain and body. But even more than supporting your physical health, peer-reviewed, scientific studies have suggested that while more research needs to be done, regularly consuming omega-3s can boost your mood. In particular, of the three types of omega-3 fatty acids (ALA, EPA, and DHA), EPA is best suited for fighting depression. And some studies have shown that it’s as good at fighting depression as some prescription antidepressant drugs. In this study, the combination of 1000mg of EPA and fluoxetine 20mg improved depressive symptoms by over 50% in 81% of the participants compared to 50% of participants in the EPA alone or fluoxetine alone groups.
For your physical health, omega-3s have a wide range of benefits for everyone from children to adults. DHA can help with prenatal development in fetuses. Some researchers have suggested that pregnant women who receive optimal levels of DHA will have children with fewer developmental delays or behavioral disorders such as autism spectrum disorder or ADHD. DHA omega-3 is also proven to improve eye health and minimize your risk of conditions such as macular degeneration. Omega-3s are proven to promote physiological characteristics associated with a lower risk of heart disease. There’s also research that suggests omega-3s minimize your risk for degenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis.
If omega-3 and fish oil have similar benefits, why are they sold separately?
It’s a common question for people who are looking to supplement their diet with omega-3s. While fish oil has omega-3s, those aren’t the only fatty acids or fats that fish oil contains. Because omega-3 isn’t the primary ingredient of fish oil supplements, you may find that you need to consume more fish oil supplements per day to reach the recommended total amount of omega-3s—especially if you’ve been diagnosed with heart disease.
Generally, those diagnosed with heart disease are encouraged to get one gram of omega-3s, specifically EPA and DHA, per day, more if a person has high triglycerides. This is opposed to the two grams per week—a little less than 300 mg/ day—recommendation for people without heart disease. Remember this number, because we’ll be referencing it throughout the review. Also, know that 300 mg a day is on the lower end of what experts tend to recommend—some advise that you take up to 500 mg a day.
Havasu Nutrition gummies are a good deal, have high omega-3 content, and provide very clear labeling
In our view, you basically have just a few things to think about when choosing an omega-3 gummy: omega-3 content, value, taste, and labeling. Somewhat surprisingly, many omega-3 gummy products have unclear and misleading product labeling. With omega-3 content clearly labeled and itemized, Havasu doesn’t have this problem. Moreover, each gummy has a lot of omegas, which means you only have to eat 4 a day to get above 300 mg. Also, Havasu offers very good value for your dollar—you’ll spend $1.03 for just over 300 mg daily.
- Mary Ruth’s offers vegan gummies that include four different types of omegas.
- Feel Great 365 adds Vitamin C to their omega-3 gummies.

A note on this table: We are using 300 mg of omega-3s per day as a baseline metric for this table. Experts recommend 250 to 500 mg per day. Unfortunately for us, the gummies in this review aren’t perfectly divisible by 300, so our recommendations will get you as close to 300 mg as possible, always going over 300, instead of going under. For example, instead of recommending 3 gummies with 92 mg omega-3 content per day—which gets you to 276 mg—we recommend 4 gummies, getting you over 300 mg to 368 mg.
We calculate omega content by what these brands tell us on their bottle, and we distinguish between fish oil and omega content. For example, Coromega lists 227 mg of fish oil and 70 mg total omega-3 fatty acids per serving, which is two gummies. For the table, we use Coromega’s omega-3 content, not fish oil content.
Because there are so many omega-3 gummies on the market today—some of which are basically the same, just with different product marketing—we think breaking the gummies down by this metric clarifies the value you’re getting with one bottle. And because omega supplements are typically used daily, we use the metric to calculate what the supplement will cost you per day.
Great Deal, High Omega Content
Lab tested | 92 mg omega content per gummy
Havasu Omega gummies are a great Omega-3 supplement for shoppers looking for a vegan option. Their prices are very competitive, though you’ll need more than one bottle per month to keep up with a 300 mg omega content per day regimen. They come in orange and lemon flavors, and shoppers love the gummies for thier taste (and lack of bad aftertaste).
- 60 gummies in a bottle
- 100% vegan, non-GMO
- Includes omega-3, 6, 9, and DHA
- Discounts ranging from 10 to 20% for bulk purchases
- Does NOT have a bad, fishy aftertaste
- Natural orange and lemon flavors
- Third-party tested
- Processed at an FDA registered facility
What We Like
The Havasu Nutrition Omega-3 gummies prioritize transparency, which we at The Unwinder are very big on. If you’ve avoided gummies because many of them are made from animal-derived gelatin, you’ll like that Havasu’s gummies are non-GMO and contain a vegan-friendly formula. And if you’re concerned about the notorious fishy aftertaste omega-3 supplements can have—these only leave you with a fresh citrus flavor.
What We Think Could Improve
For all the benefits of Havasu Nutrition’s Omega-3 gummies, we think the cost-to-value ratio could improve. While a 60-count gummy bottle is modestly priced at $15.50—or $0.26 per gummy—you have to take four gummies a day to get above 300 mg. This maths out to 20 days of supplements in one bottle.
Also, Havasu’s marketing copy on its Amazon page advertises a combined 60 milligrams of EPA and DHA per serving, yet, as far as we can tell, the actual packaging fails to list EPA in the Supplemental Facts.
The Full Havasu Nutrition Omega-3, 6, 9 + DHA Gummies Review
Havasu Natural’s omega-3 gummies have strong reviews, with an average rating of 4.5 out of five stars on Amazon. The fact that these gummies include more than just omega-3, but also omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids is a great bonus. These gummies are an ideal alternative for vegetarian and vegan shoppers since the omega oil is derived from chia seeds as opposed to fish, and the gummies don’t use gelatin but palm leaves wax.
You’ll also like that Havasu Nutrition offers a sliding scale discount depending on how many bottles you buy. While one bottle costs $15.50, you’ll save 10 percent when you purchase two bottles, 15 percent when you purchase three bottles, and 20 percent when you purchase four bottles. For those with dietary concerns, these gummies are also non-GMO and gluten-free.
Shoppers are reviewing Havasu Omega-3 gummies quite positively for their taste. If you look at the reviews, you’ll also find that the majority of shoppers are really liking that the gummies aren’t sugar-coated, aren’t sticky to the touch, and don’t have a bad aftertaste.

Good for parents
Purified and ultra-refined
Coromega Omega-3 Fruit Gummies offer a lower dose of omega content per gummy. You have to eat 9 to get over 300 mg, which may be a lot for some shoppers. However, shoppers are super excited about the lack of a fishy aftertaste—and the fact that their kids love them.
- 60 gummies in a bottle
- Does NOT have a fishy aftertaste
- Offer an alternate version for children
- Subscribe and save option from 5 to 15%
- Strawberry-banana, lemon, and orange-flavored
- Purified and ultra-refined fish oil
- Certified Kosher
What We Like
The Coromega Omega-3 Fruit Gummies offers a variety of flavor options: strawberry, orange, and lemon. We also like that Coromega performs a multi-step purification system that relies on molecular distillation to ensure that the fish oil they use is free of carcinogens and environmental contaminants.
What We Think Could Improve
While there’s a lot to love about this product, one of the biggest drawbacks is their relatively low omega content. And while negative reviews were minimal, a common one we discovered was that often these gummies arrived melted, making them difficult to impossible to use.
The Full Coromega Omega-3 Fruit Gummies for Adults Review
These gummies offer a total of 227 milligrams of fish oil per serving of two gummies. And of that, 50 milligrams are DHA and 10 milligrams are EPA. While Coromega also offers a kids version, children over the age of four can also take these gummies at the same dosage as adults.
The majority of reviews for this omega-3 gummy were positive, with an average of 4.5 out of five stars on its Amazon page. Across adults and children, shoppers enjoyed the flavor, and many wrote that their kids love the fish-shaped gummies. Shoppers also reported that after taking these gummies, they felt that their joint health improved. Finally, everyone seems pretty stoked on the fact that Coromega doesn’t have a fishy aftertaste.
If you’re in the market for Coromega Omega-3 gummies, you might also like their ‘subscribe and save’ feature. This makes it easy to not only stay on top of your supplements, but save a little money in the process. While a single bottle costs $12.99 ($0.22 per gummy), when you subscribe, you’ll save five percent on your first bottle and then up to 15 percent if you opt to receive five or more bottles in one month.

Vitamins added, high omega content
3 flavors | 92 mg omega content per gummy
Feel Great 365 DHA & Omega Vegetarian Gummy Vitamins distinguishes itself from other products in this review by adding vitamin C to its gummies. To some, though, this might come across as an excuse to jack up their prices—despite having the same omega-3 oil content as Havasu Nutrition’s omega-3 gummies, Feel Great’s are double the price.
- 60 count
- Contains omega-3, 6, 9, DHA, and vitamin C
- Cherry, strawberry, and orange flavors
- Vegan and non-GMO
- No synthetic colors, artificial flavors, or sweeteners
- 3rd-party lab-tested
- Made in an FDA-certified facility in the U.S.
What We Like
Feel Great 365 omega gummies combine omega-3, omega-6, omega-9, and DHA, with vitamin C, which we like. They’re vegetarian as well; the omega oils are derived from algae, not fish oil. This means you won’t get the fishy aftertaste. We also like that these gummies are made in the United States at an FDA-certified facility.
What We Think Could Improve
The biggest drawback for Feel Great 365’s supplement is the price. At $29.97 per bottle with 60 gummies per container, that works out to roughly $0.50 per gummy or $1.99 per serving. In fact, Feel Great offers the same omega oil content as Havasu Nutrition (reviewed above), but charges double the price.
The Full Feel Great 365 DHA & Omega Vegetarian Gummy Vitamins Review
With so many different types of omega fatty acids, it can be hard to know whether you should prioritize omega 3, 6, or 9. Feel Great 365’s omega gummy not only features omega-3, 6, and 9 but also includes DHA and Vitamin C.
In terms of flavor, you’ll enjoy the burst of cherry, strawberry, and orange flavors — all sourced from natural ingredients that are safe for vegetarian diets. Because these gummies are plant-based, you won’t experience a fishy aftertaste. This feature is one of the most often-mentioned aspects of the positive reviews we researched. And because of this, these gummies are also safe for pregnant and nursing moms, since there’s no risk of mercury exposure like fish oil-based omega-3 gummies may pose.
Even though these are a pricier option as compared to many of the other gummies on our list, Feel Great 365 does offer a subscription program. When you opt for a subscription service, you’ll save five percent on your first bottle of gummies and 10 percent when you order five or more bottles within one month.

Good value, great ingredients
Contains omegas 3, 6, 7, and 9
MaryRuth Organics’ omega gummies are our favorite omega gummies on this review. Why? These gals pump four types of omegas (typically omega gummies have just two or three omegas) into their gummies, many ingredients are organic, they’re sugar-free, and they’re totally vegan. The price you pay per day is also very competitive.
- 120 count
- Good for adults and children
- Vegan and non-GMO
- Contains omegas 3, 6, 7, and 9
- Peach, mango, and apricot flavor
- Includes flaxseed oil and Seaberry, a proprietary concentrate made from sea buckthorn
What We Like
MaryRuth Organics’ gummies are vegan. They offer a comprehensive array of omega fatty acids that includes omega-3, 6, 7, and 9. The omega oil is derived from flaxseed oil and seaberry. Seaberry is a concentrate made from a plant called Sea Buckthorn; MaryRuth Organics claims the plant has the highest concentration of omega 7 found in nature. We really do like the ingredients MaryRuth Organics use: they’re natural and sugar-free.
What We Think Could Improve
As compared to the other omega-3 gummies in our list, this one lacks both DHA and EPA. And when we searched through their customer pages, we found customer support agents giving contradictory information. Some claimed that the gummies do contain DHA and EPA—only to have the founder of the company also respond to customers and clarify that the gummies don’t contain these nutrients.
We also think MaryRuth Organics could be clearer about the omega content in their gummies. While the front of the packaging breaks down the specific milligram contents for the various omega fatty acids, the supplement facts on the back fail to list this information in full—specifying only the omega 3 powder quantity per serving.
The Full MaryRuth Organics Vegan Omega 3-6-7-9 Gummies Review
For vegan shoppers, knowing exactly where your omega oils are sourced can be a critical factor when you’re looking for supplements. MaryRuth Organic omega gummies are a great option. They combine a wider range of omega oils with a lot of information about where they’re sourcing the omegas (flaxseed and sea buckthorn). In addition to being vegan, these gummies are non-GMO, sugar-free, and include organic ingredients.
If you’re concerned about your sugar intake, you’ll like that these gummies are sugar-free, thanks to the vegan erythritol used in place of traditional sugars or corn syrup other gummies might have.
MaryRuth Organics also has a fairly unique combination of flavors: peach, mango, and apricot. In the reviews on the Amazon product page, customers enjoy the flavors and lack of a fishy aftertaste.
MaryRuth Organics has one of the few options that includes four different types of omega oils. While it’s common to find just omega-3 or omega-3, 6, and 9, omega-7 tends to be less common. And although the gummies are on the more expensive side on a per bottle basis, they’re more economical than most brands. $28.95 gets you 120 gummies with 105 mg of omega content per gummy. This is on the higher end of omega content per gummy.

46 mg omega content per gummy
Though Solimo has the least expensive bottle of omega-3 gummies in this review, it’s omega-3 content per gummy is very low. Their nutrition facts list is confusing, if not misleading. Shoppers have reviewed it pretty positively, though, especially for its taste.
Editor’s Note (July 1, 2020): The Solimo Fish Oil Gummies are currently out of stock. However, this Omega 3 supplement from Solimo is a reasonable replacement.
- 90 gummies per bottle
- Lemon, orange, and strawberry-banana flavors
- $8.99 per bottle
- Gluten-free, no wheat, dairy, soy or egg
- Does include animal products, including pork gelatin
What We Like
Of all the brands in this omega-3 gummy review, Solimo is the most cost-aware option. And as is common, there’s a subscription option where shoppers save five percent on their first bottle and then 15 percent on orders of five bottles or more per month.
What We Think Could Improve
The biggest issue we see with Solimo gummies is that they contain a relatively low amount of omega-3s.
Further, the ingredients list is confusing, and literally doesn’t add up. It lists 67 mg of DHA and 13 mg of EPA per serving, which adds up to 80 mg total of omega-3 content. (As you might have guessed by now, we’re math geniuses over here at The Unwinder.) However, the next line of the ingredients presumably adds up the “Total Omega-3 Fatty Acids” to 93 mg per serving. Where those extra 13 mg of omega-3s are coming from isn’t listed.
The Full Amazon Brand Solimo Fish Oil 303mg Review
If you’ve recently decided to begin taking fish oil and aren’t ready to commit to some of the pricier brands, Amazon’s Solimo Fish Oil supplements could be the place you start. $8.99 is an easy entry point. Though—as we mentioned above—compared to the other gummies in this review, the low price point doesn’t actually pan out very well from a total omega-3 content perspective.
Though there are some complaints about the sweetness and texture of these gummies in the reviews on their Amazon product page, in general, the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. Shoppers are super excited about the lack of a fishy aftertaste and the fact that children especially loved these gummies.
